Senior journalist Basant Prakash Upadhyay passed away at the age of 58, leaving family, colleagues, and community members in deep sorrow.
Upadhyay worked with Gorkhapatra Corporation and also served as an editor for Madhupak and Yuvamanch.
The family depended on Upadhyay as its main source of support, and the loss has created serious emotional and financial strain.
The family includes a 94-year-old parent who needs regular care, a spouse receiving ongoing kidney treatment, and two children continuing their education.
A support effort was created on September 16, 2026, to assist with medical care, daily living needs, and the children’s studies.
